Have you ever thought about praying to God yet didn’t know how or what to say?
Do you often wonder if God speaks the same language that you do?
Do you feel He might not understand what you are saying or asking Him?
First, let’s look at the definition of a prayer:
“A specially worded or spontaneously expressed appeal to God.”
Prayer is a way to communicate with God and, in turn, deepen one’s faith. A prayer could be expressed at any time of (D)day or (N)night, and can be a way to ask for help for yourself or others, or share needs with God.
A prayer could be as simple as:
“Dear Lord, may every troubled soul be comforted by your love.”
or more complex:
“Heavenly Father, again and again I have seen Your hand at work. Again and again, You have proven Yourself trustworthy. I believe in who You are and in all Your powers. I believe that nothing is impossible for You. I believe that You are just and good and holy and that You are working with a master plan.”
or a Cherokee Prayer:
“Oh, Great Spirit who made all races, look kindly upon the whole human family and take away the arrogance and hatred which separates us from our brothers.”
or, The Lord’s Prayer that Jesus taught His disciples to pray:
“Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.”
